This workshop introduces the theory behind and the manual for the group-based program called Re-designing Daily Occupations (ReDO).  Participants will be asked to do a minor home assignment in order to achieve a certificate as ReDO leader, unique for occupational therapists taken the course and a prerequisite for leading the group intervention.

The group-based work rehabilitation program supports persons who experience occupational imbalance and need to make changes in their everyday life e.g, for return to work, for healthier lifestyle… It focuses on everyday life’s entire occupational repertoire, and is designed based on occupational science and occupational therapy theory and research. The ReDO program originally consists of group meetings twice a week over 10+6 consecutive weeks (6 weeks of work practice if applicable).

The themes that are central to ReDO are the relationship between occupation and health, health-promoting occupations, and time-use and occupations. The basic idea is that restructuring one’s patterns of daily occupations and lifestyle can lead to a more healthy and manageable balance between various everyday tasks. This balance relates to both the distribution of occupations over one’s life time and the distribution of individual occupations in the present daily life and the experiences they offer. The subjective evaluation and the response to patterns of daily occupation is the focus, with both a life course and a current; everyday perspective. The core of the program is occupational analysis.
