STUDENT SUPERVISION

Professors who supervise or co-supervise graduate students have been approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Post-doctoral Studies (Faculté des études supérieures et postdoctorales) of the Université de Montréal. The director must have the academic title of full, associate or assistant professor at the École de réadaptation. A co-director can be an invited or clinical professor or else be affiliated with another university.

RESEARCH DIRECTORS AND RESEARCH CENTRES

The graduate programs of Rehabilitation Science are focused on conducting research activities supervised by directors who are generally affiliated with a research centre. As a result, students are strongly encouraged to identify their research director as soon as possible and in so doing establish their program of study.

Our graduate students are asked to become student members of their research centre and possibly of an established network of researchers such as the Fonds de recherche du Québec-Santé (ex : REPAR, RQRV). This type of affiliation offers the research director with various financial advantages (conference expenses) as well as support services (ex. statistical analysis and article translations) that could be helpful to the student.

Bursaries

Students enrolled in our graduate programs can apply for various bursaries during their studies in order to obtain financial support. For more information, please consult the Web site of the Faculté des études supérieures et postdoctorales.

Deadlines

Since the deadlines for submitting an application for graduate student bursaries are usually in the fall semester preceding their effective date, it is strongly recommended that the student plan and prepare the application and all the required documents as soon as possible. Therefore, it is of critical importance for the student to choose early on his or her director.

Reflecting the success of our programs, our graduate students are becoming increasingly competitive in the competition for bursaries. Both at the provincial and national levels, they have obtained scholarships from recognized funding organizations, such as the FRQ-S, CRSH, IRSC, IRSST as well as the professional associations.
